Education

Early Childhood  Education

We support vulnerable children below the age of six years to access early childhood education at our registered centre at number 37 Strachan Street,  Ardbennie, Harare. The centre has a capacity to enrol 40 children annually.

Non-formal education

a) Out of School Study Group for Primary School

We run an accelerated second chance education program for out of school children who fail to start school  by 8 years and or drop out of school before completing primary school. The program support a child for an average of 24 months before reintegration into formal schools. The reintegrated children are supported with school fees payment for the initial 2 years before the parents are able to take over school fees payment. The program supprts an average of 100 learners annualy.

b) Part Time Continuing Education

We assist secondary school learners who fail to transition from primary  to secondary  and or fail to complete secondary school to complete secondary  school through our non formal  education  community  school.  The children are supported through the part time continuing education alternative learning pathway model where they are assisted to complete O’level without being reintegrated into formal schools. When they are ready to sit for public exmas, they are assisted to register as external candidates at formal school centres. Upon completion  learners are either supported to proceed to A’ level or vocational training. The program supports on average 100 learners per year.

Vocational Training

Learners who complete O’level and desire to pursue vocational  training are supported to undergo training through registered vocational training institutions.

Tertiary Education

We support  learners who excel at A’ level to pursue  tertiary level education  at various universities  in Zimbabwe.

Health & Nutrition

Peadritic HIV programming
We strive to ensure that HIV positive children remain on treatment to prolong life.  We form support groups for children and adolescents to improve treatment adherence and retention to prolong life. These are co-facilitated by health personnel at the drug collection health facilities. For children under five, we run early childhood stimulation sessions which are health facility based to improve mother to child communication and stimulation to ensure that  HIV positive  children are supported to remain on treatment and those that are negative remain negative.

Feeding
We run a soup kitchen where 2 hot meals are provided to an average of 200 children daily  for 6 days  a week  throughout the year. Dry food packs are provided to families in extreme poverty especially households with children living  with HIV

Nutrition training
Nutrition training  sessions are done by health professionals for caregivers to improve caregiving techniques at home.

Health assessments
We conduct health assessments for children to screen children  of any ailments including  malnutrition.

Sexual Reproductive Health Rights
We work with young people  and health facilities to increase demand for uptake of sexual reproductive health services while strengthening the supply  side for quality youth friendly service provision.

We also advocate for change in laws,  attitudes,  practices,  policies that impede access to youth friendly service provision  at national level.

We engage in partnerships and build networks for increased coverage of sexual reproductive health rights programming.

Child Protection

We work with families to ensure children are better cared for including  assisting abused children  and prevention of abuse. We also facilitate birth registration for children without birth certificates.  Parenting  sessions are done with parents to create a platform for them to learn from each other as well as assisting them with information to care for their children.

Case Management
We work with community case care workers who are volunteers under the Department of Social Development to identify, follow up and for social protection services. Case plans are developed for each child to ensure that continuum of care is provided until the case is closed.

Children with disabilities
We work with various stakeholders to ensure that children with disabilities are identified early and enrolled in school. We form support groups for parents  of children  with disabilities  to provide a platform for them to learn parenting skills  from each other, receive  community based therapy training  and engage in income generating activities.

Training

We train care givers  and parents in income generating skills and business management. The caregivers are supported to form savings clubs  to create a platform  for them to provide each other with loans to start or improve their business ideas. For those with promising businesses, boost up capital is provided to help them scale up their projects.
